The year is 2077 and Dumnonia has finally slumped into the English Channel. A brave but thirsty tribe still live on the four remaining islands whose bridges were built from handouts from the Quontock Economists during the last ‘Lympics of ’52.
This is the legend of the return of the Quontock Economists who visit the islanders with another gift. This time it’s fertilizer. The tribespeople are led into an addictive frenzy, spraying their land with the dangerous concoction, dancing the Jumpstyle as they go. The deliciously deceptive Yum Yum Clump sprouts up all over the islands, feeding their Jumpstyle addiction. That is until the clever caretakers of the tribe, the Shwardens, decide to take matters into their own hands. The Shwardens seek revenge on their do-gooding visitors who, they discover, have more sinister plans for this earthy paradise.
Come and enjoy the live studio performance of the radio play, performed by residents of Dumnonia! The Legend of the Yum Yum Clumps is a play set in and cast with members of the communities of Barne Barton, North Prospect, Whitleigh and Efford. Members of these communities are travelling the city during the week of July 23-27 to put on the performance. The performance will also feature live foley sound (think coconuts for horses hooves) and brings back the art of old time radio play. The play is being recorded live and with audience input and will be broadcast on 107.9FM or www.nowhereislandradio.com as part of a 4 day community based radio broadcast specifically celebrating communities in Plymouth.
All welcome, refreshments will be served!
The Legend of the Yum Yum Clump! will be broadcast on Nowhereisland Radio from the 9th-12th August across Plymouth and online.
